Pass the Mic

Pass The Mic spotlights the stories and experiences of New Zealanders from migrant and former refugee backgrounds. The first series from 2022 is a community-led collaboration in partnership with Belong Aotearoa, Sport Waitākere and Storyo, hosted by Elina Ashimbayeva. The second series from 2025 focuses on the employment experience of lived experts and was made with funding from the J R McKenzie Trust.

Pass The Mic S2 Episode 12: Sun Min

Meet Sun, an amazing individual, who is creating fairer, more inclusive workplaces in Aotearoa. Her advocacy shines a light on the challenges neurodivergent migrant and Asian women face, encouraging awareness, support and understanding. Originally from Korea, Sun’s experience across different workplaces, and her ADHD and autism diagnoses, inspired her to champion change. Her voice is helping shape a future where every person feels valued and included.

Nina has been recognised by the Asian New Zealand Foundation and YWCA as a young person to watch, and in this episode, Nina shares her work with the “Mind The Gap'' campaign and ethnic pay gap reporting.
